I have been looking for a nice low mile 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car on and off for a few years now. I found one that had the options I wanted (L-82/Auto) and the right price. After speaking with the dealer on and off for a week, I decided to try and take the next step. I was directed to the Hemmings.com website and read some of their advice in regards to purchasing a vehicle out of state (I am in Florida and the car was in Michigan). They recommended using an independent appraiser. Well after looking at their classified ads, I found Jason of Autoappraise. As luck would have it, he was in the same city the car was in, so it made my decision that much easier. After speaking to him for quite some time on the phone, I decided to use his services. A couple days later, Jason went to check out dream car. He spent about 3 hours with the car, he phoned me at work while he was driving it. He then sent me that evening via fax his complete appraisal of the car (with Hi Res and Lo Res pictures). It was very detailed and precise. To be honest, he went above and beyond more than I expected. He detailed in his notes the exact locations of minor nicks and scratches, checked and confirmed the numbers matched, crawled under the car to check suspension and frame and everything else there was to look at and verify.

Based on his recommendation and the comfort I felt with the dealer, I decided to go through with the purchase.

So I am writing this today, March 30, 2004 with a newly acquired 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car in my garage that was delivered this morning.
