Total Loss/Disputes
The people or companies who use this service are:
- Unhappy with the settlement their insurance company is offering for their totaled car.
- Insurance companies seeking resolution in cases of customer disputed settlements.
Why the need for third party arbitration?
Many factors contribute to differences in the value of a vehicle. Two identical vehicles with similar mileage can differ in value by thousands. Different methods are employed by different insurance companies to calculate these values. This along with independent adjuster opinion, contributes largely to these differences.
Disagreement usually begins when the customer realizes they can't replace their car for the amount offered. Has your adjuster reviewed all the facts? Sometimes adjusters are bombarded with claims and don't have the time or resources to properly reevaluate every case. Sometimes the insured owes too much money or overpaid for the vehicle. How do you know which it is?
It is the insured's responsibility in a dispute to challenge.
This is where an independent appraiser comes in. Your insurance policy affords you this protection, but it's your responsibility to employ it. It is not as uncommon as you think.
After inspection, if your adjuster ends up being correct and you do owe more on your car than the settlement can pay, we have other options which we can discuss with you.
